Joint Founder/Owner

Having attended Keeble school in Winchmore Hill and then Bishop Stortford, Nick started his career working for his father in the family furniture business in North London. In the years that followed, Nick gained experience and a passion for the property industry. Subsequently opening the first Statons Estate Agents office on Barnet Hill, High Barnet in 1986, with his sister Loraine. Coincidental in the same colours, the now distinct yellow and black, as the Keeble school colours… Over the years, the business has grown and grown to the highly respected Brand Statons Estate Agents has become in North London and Hertfordshire today. Nick, Loraine and the Statons family (as Nick always referred to the team) strongly believe in supporting the local community, taking great pride in the many local charities, schools and sports clubs they have been lucky enough to be involved with and to have sponsored over the years.

Never too busy to take calls from people looking for his advice on local property, Nick remains committed, passionate and a hands-on member of the Statons Estate Agency team. With many years of local experience, there isn’t much Nick doesn’t know about local property. Often referred to by the media as the ‘Estate agent to the stars’ with an impressive list of stars from the silver screen, TV and sport Nick lists as clients. Nick is also frequently asked to comment on the property market by the national newspapers due to his considerable experience and respected position. Outside of estate agency, Nick has an interest in the music industry, as a songwriter, he’s working with a couple of artists at the moment, you can find him on Spotify with Codi Martin or Andy Taylor with some of the songs he has written over the last few years.

I joined Statons in 1996. I started my career as a trainee accountant at the city firm of Hays Allan. After a several years working for them, I joined the Accountancy arm of the very successful Retailer John Lewis, which is where I met my wife, Jenny. Estate Agency and Surveying has always been in my family. My late father`s business, Alan Shearsby Estate Agents and Surveyors was at 10 Cresent West Hadley Wood, the current Head Office of Statons. I joined Statons in 1996 actually selling houses with Nick and the rest of the team. However, as the company grew I found myself getting more and more involved with the strategic running of the business, the behind the scenes engine house of Statons . I really enjoyed my time selling houses and meeting some of our lovely clients, which I did directly for over 12 years. It is such a pleasure to find people their perfect family home. Clients sometimes still ask for me to help sell their property and when I tell them I haven’t been involved in the actual process of selling property for more than 14 years it does encounter a lot of laughter when it dawns on them how time has flown! Family life these days, is about enjoying holidays, spending time with my nearest and dearest, socialising with friends and planning my next trip to the Maldives!!

I joined Statons approximately 8 years ago, having previously spent my career working for John Lewis and Waitrose covering various management roles in Accountancy, Staff Training and HR, Project management and Branch Leadership. My role in Statons has many facets, some more glamourous than others. My key role is supporting the Partners, which can cover many aspects including HR responsibilities, looking after the look and feel of the offices, charitable events and supporting the community, also responding when a call comes in about a leak in our Totteridge office, or a light bulb has blown in our Barnet office and oh by the way there has been fly tipping in the car park!! It can be a little bit like “Who are you going to call “Jenny Shearsby”! Out of work I enjoy nothing more than spending time with family and friends, socialising, going to the theatre and enjoying holidays in this country and abroad.

The park has various routes for walking, cycling and horse riding, and hosts events such as the Race4Life and concerts.

Another landscape to discover is Hadley Wood Golf Club, which was designed by Alister MacKenzie in 1922, who, ten years later, went on to be responsible for Augusta, home to the US Masters.
